In the grand scheme it's good, gives other sides a foot in if they win games they're expected to win. I think India will do well on these English pitches, well their batting at least. I've backed India to win the trophy.

Their bowling as well, they have a really good and diverse attack.

I'd think they'd know better than underestimating the Tigers given they were coming from a solid thumping at England's hand.

You'd think ja. As would the rest of us.

But their body language in the field was telling.

I do think that there is a bit of an overreaction in the media and from the fans. By no means are we dead and burried. It may well be that 5 wins could get you into a semi.

The outcry, IMO, is because we know that this team is way better than what we've seen them produce.

It would take an astonishing turnaround for us to get out of the group stages at this point. Not really pinning my hopes on it but would be happy if they pull it off obviously. As I always do in these situations I have shifted my focus to backing the NZ cricket team to win. Always liked them as a team.

Sjoe, some cracking shots by the Sri Lankans early on. 20 off the first two overs.

I thought it was a shaky team heading in from the get-go.

Amla is well past his best I'm afraid. Duminy has also just only got back from injury. Factor in the long tail and there was always going to be huge pressure on the likes of QdK, Faf, Makram and Rassie to shoulder the load. If one or two of them misfire, the house of cards is likely going to cave in.

No consistent all-rounder with the ability to help ease the batting load.

The nature of our defeats has been an embarrassment, but I thought we were fragile heading in to the tournament.

They looked out of sorts. Out of touch. Disorganised. They took that into their batting. Looking at their performance in the field left me wondering what was wrong in the camp. Almost like their was a rift or discord. We were probably beaten before we took the field.

My concern is that they were banking on players who were carrying injuries into the tournament. You're either fit to play or not. As it is, they are hamstrung. Getting out of the hole they're will take something extra ordinary, e.g. a leader to stand up and get them focused. Biff could do it. I hope that Faf can.

Fair

On paper this team can beat any of the tournament sides, but if we are honest, the entire bowling attack is not 100%

Steyn - selected while injured. And its the same shoulder... Who knows what his true state of affairs is.
Rabada - Back strain - Doesnt look like the rabada we know, Must be hiding something.
Ngidi - recently back from a knee and now hamstrung
Shamsi - recently back from a back strain, only played in one warm up and bowled 5 overs
JP - Definitely not fully recovered from his shoulder - 3 overs total in 2 matches

Ouch, I've been so focused on the batting I overlooked how iffy the bowling is.

To me there was better application from the batters. Some lapses in concentration proved costly. The run out didn't help the head space at all. Aiden needs to be banned from calling any runs in the future.

I don't think that its discord. Faf doesn't strike me as the type to entertain such things. He's also very good at getting the best out of the players that he captains.

Yup, that was supposed to be our attack together with Andile...

I must be honest and say that if JP is going to be in the team soley as a batter then we should have rather taken Reeza.

The whole idea was that JP comes into the squad as an all rounder and balances out the team.

Am I the only the only one that think he is a great badsman and at best a part time bowler. He should probably be move up the order and bad at 3 or 4
