The 2023 Rugby World Cup official thread

Unfortunately, I don't have a good feeling about this World Cup

I think this is the first world cup in a long time when we don't go into it with the burden of expectation. Everyone is bigging up Ireland and France which will hopefully take the focus off us and just let us get on with things. That being said, I think if we keep the guys injury free and fresh, we should be in with a more than decent shot.

It goes in cycles. The Boks look to be retaining a large portion of the 2019 RWC squad and that hardly goes well when defending champions do that.

But you never know, with a bit of luck, they could get to the semis.

We just haven't played very many international games in the last 4 years so I have no idea where we stand.

That being said if we do win its a hell of a road to the finals and it will be awesome to be a bok fan.

Also will Rassie still be there if he doesn't win the world cup?

Looks like Stick may take over after the WC. He is the best person to do so. Been there for a long time so he will know the ins and outs really.

It is refreshing that there are a few more contenders for top honors this year. In no order - :
- Boks - definately in with a shout. have established and battle hardened players,
- NZ - if they don't get stage fright in a tough Quarter/Semi-final,
- France - home ground advantage and a team on the up,
- Ireland - current top team and have proved to be a team that can scrap with & beat the best,
- England - always dangerous,
- Australia - could be a different animal under Eddie Jones,
- Argentina - a big maybe. a bit too erratic and discipline might cost them.
My pick - heart says Boks but mind says Ireland or France.

Fact that there is no pressure on AB's could be to their advantage. Bokke almost certainly going out if they get ABs in the knockouts.

Best team does not always win the WC. Luck is a big factor.

Ireland face Boks, Tonga, Scotland - in that order. They will play a "B" side v Tonga.

Still plenty physical. Then it's either All Blacks or France in the quarters. NZ will be out for a blacklash. France are at home. If they make it to the semis it's England, a resurgent Australia or another physical side in Argentina.

Argentina is another dark horse, yes. I hope they get to the semis at least.

I think Wales will lose to Fiji, as they did in France in 2007.
