Check out the great collection of best photos for 2011. This year has been marked by protests, revolutions and unparalleled natural disasters. Personally, I found the photos from the tsunami and tornadoes the most powerful, mainly because it reminds you of how small you seem to be against nature. The suicidal-bride photo is also really confusing, scary and powerful at the same time. You can actually feel her desperation.

I am always touched by the pic of the Christians protecting the Muslims during prayer.

the first pic of dad at his son's name on the 9/11 memorial brings new meaning to the expression "a picture paints a thousand words".

Yes that one and the one of the girl being tested for radiation poisoning, looking through the glass at her dog.

Thanks for the link, some of those images are really powerful, in particular I'm really impressed by shot 25 (Vancouver riots, kissing on the ground), shot 24 (old woman pepper sprayed) and shot 7 (protestor gets pepper sprayed).

Shot 37 (Chilean youth getting punched in the face) is also quite powerful, and some of the captions you could put to it are lol worthy.

I liked the picture of the volcanic eruption as well. It's just so amazing how there's even lightning coming from the pyroclastic ashes. It looks so amazing and scary.

The picture of the Christians protecting the Muslims in prayer is also very moving.

21 for me was funny - a Steve Jobs bobble head!
30 just shows the fear, starvation and desperation of a 7 month old baby in Kenya - Brilliant photo.
