Very easy. If your personal info change, credit firms record every change. Print it all out. Pull a few credit reports from a few sites (I am sure they will match), then go to the firms where you have questions. They need to provide answers.

Looks like the party may be ending. African Bank employees claim that they want to stop payment of a African Bank credit card via another credit card. This makes sense, as things stand you can 'suspend' a purchase indefinitely with an African Bank and Woolworth credit card.

Swipe for R10k on African Bank card on 1 Jan, then pay ABCC with Woolworths card by 25 Feb. Woolworths card becomes due 25 March, pay it with ABCC, rinse repeat.

Separately, some African Bank investment options offer better interest than Capitec if anyone is interest.

Interesting. But then why did they add the CC topup on the internet banking website? As in you can topup online from your current CC...
Edit: I see this option only shows up, if the account has an amount that needs to be paid.

Yup that would be one way to abuse it if you want an interest free loan!

I did notice that. As long as AB doenst go down again like they did a few years ago almost. Still reading news where they compare the current Capitec report woes to AB and saying Capitec is not the same situation, makes me wonder.

I have now given up trying to get this credit card.

The first time I applied, I was told, yes, you may have this huuuuge credit limit. I was like...now let's dial that down a bit but yes, I accept....

Some IT glitch occurs and I was unable to sign their offer documents.

After going to the branch a few more times and getting absolutely nowhere, I finally decide to cancel the application and apply online instead.

Get a phone call from head office offering me a similar credit offer. But...to complete the application, must go in branch to submit the documentation and complete the offer there. Do this, get told, no, wait for head office to get back to you. The head office person started the process. We can't proceed.

Head office calls the next day, asks me which offer I want. "Credit card?"

Oh no, you needed to have done that in branch. Tell you what, I am going to reject your application and you can start afresh (thanks for damaging my credit record, AB!)

Tried again in branch with a brand new application. Now my affordability is called into question (I guess two failed attempts on THEIR part over the months will do that). I need to provide them with more payslips.

I go in today to find out what the hold up is and after some wrangling...get told I must now provide a letter proving my salary increase because my salary can't be counted as recurring. Why I could not have been told this previously is beyond me.

So basically, I went from here, you can have a CC to...wait a minute, you got a salary increase? No, we don't think you can afford this CC now.

Moral of the story? If you got a salary increase/promoted/etc., have a letter or don't bother applying with AB.

Dont you get the option to apply at the salary level before the increase? Would be easier if you didnt get a salary increase letter.

sad but true, fnb asked me to provide additional documentation for the increase / bonus salary month

the only difference with african bank is having to go to branch for little things, and calling head office etc.

I tried. Told the consultant to use my previous salary. Instead he opted to discard all my extras as non recurring rather than indicate them on the previous salary values.

I guess FNB might have been monitoring my credit checks because they threw me a preapproved credit limit with them for some ludicrously crazy amount after my latest application.

At least they gave you a reason....with me they went from yes, here is the card to no....don't even try to use the card we gave you.
