Are any of you being still being charged interest even though you settle before due date every month?
Its a problem with the African Bank credit card. They charge interest on the amount you use from the cc but if you phone them and make a story they will escalate it to the cc division who will reverse it.

The cc division basically said all their cards attract an interest charge for using the credit card and their system cannot disable it even though it goes against their 60 day interest free advertising. The only method is to phone every month and get the charges reversed

I'm not sure how they can get away with this, but yes I'm being charged interest too

Its African Bank I think we all have a sign up nightmare story that initiated us when signing up and made this whole interest thing sound normal lol

I'm just happy they refunded the money eventually..... That's all one can hope for with them

I received an email regarding deposit fees on the ABCC. Does this now mean we will be charged a fee for settling our outstanding balance?

received one as well. seems to be the case. from what i understand, this effectively means that no transaction on the ABCC, POS or not, is actually free, since you will at some point have to settle the outstanding balance, which will incur a fee

Nope. It only applies to cash deposits that are made at a branch.
Phone the call center.

I phoned the call centre and confirmed this. I have also done payments after receiving the email and the fee was not charged.
Call centre agent told me otherwise (I also specifically mentioned cash deposits). But I see you tested it out, let's see what happens. I did a payment but it hasn't reflected as yet. Hope it's not a full charge at month end.

You can obtain a statement to the day which includes bank charges if any.

I phone the call centre that escalated the matter to the complaints department who confirmed that there is a fee for all payments from now on including eft payments which I found to be odd.... So I asked the agent to clarify and double check if that is correct.... He came back to me and said yup there is now a charge for all payments including eft.

Although I'm hoping it is not true, is it possible that the fee will charged at the end of the month? similar to how absa charged on their accounts.. ...then will get hit with a big bill

Unlikely as all their statements track up to the day charges as soon as they are made. They said the amount should be charged as a witholding amount for example if it was ten percent of you paid 100 only 90 would reflect in your account.

However if they do charge it at month end they are within their right to do so as that charge even tho not charged yet has been part of the brochure for years

Edit deposit fees are now reflecting - shown as separate charge

Have you been charged the fee? I've done 4 already for this month and there are no fees.
