How much did you load on it at a time and in the last week? Apparently if you load too much at once the system blocks it automatically as a failsafe against money laundering...

Nothing loaded or spent since mid Dec.

Loaded end Nov and mid Dec, both the usual topup amounts as per eb monthly limits.

Last spent mid Dec, tried to spend online this week and it failed. SMS came through the day after the declined online transaction.

AB head office supervisor said that account will get warmed if you load more than the credit limit into the account.

Tried to increase credit limit, they said i don't qualify - even though i qualified for 8x my current credit limit when initially applying 6 weeks ago.

I plan to cash out monthly and deposit back to cheque once account gets unblocked to prevent this in future.

Hhhhmmmm, same boat as you as took the lowest possible limit of 5k... Best bet I'm thinking is to load probably 4k at a time and withdraw and deposit to my fnb account. This is the first month I'll be testing it out so let's see how it goes.

Guys can I top up my NA with my ABCC?
Never thought of this but it should work and make life easier. No need for cash withdrawal then. In theory load the cc and pay into notice account in branch. Anyone tried this?

One branch said that transferring from ABCC to ABNA is not possible, card can only be used to swipe in store, but that's the same branch that said the card doesn't work online, so go figure.

Head office did say that they can process a "refund request" after unblocking to send money from ABCC back to my Cheque account, which would be awesome, because then can effectively earn eb when spending eb next time lol.

I am annoyed. Managed to lock my internet profile by entering password incorrect a few times.

Website says: "Your internet banking profile has been locked. You have incorrectly entered your login details more than 3 times. Visit your nearest branch to unlock your profile."

Branch says, thats wrong I must phone call center.
Call center says branch should have assisted me.

/sigh

AB service and self service tools are terrible.

...here's the African Bank page with all the details about their offering: https://www.africanbank.co.za/en/home/products/credit/gold-credit-card/

Regarding withdrawing cash from ABCC

Maximum cash withdrawal of R 4000 per day at ATM’s
Maximum cash withdrawal of R 5000 per day at POS
Maximum cash withdrawal of R 6000 per day in total

ATM cash withdrawals above R100 (Plus 1.50% of transaction value) R11.40
ATM cash withdrawals less than or equal to R100 R5.70
Cash back at POS R7.50

Based on the above, drawing 10k would cost:

ATM - 4k/4k/2k over 3 days - R71.40 + R71.40 + R41.40 = R184.20

>>> [R11.40 + 1.5%* 2k / 4k] = R71.40 / R41.40

POS - 5k/5k over 2 days - R7.50 + R7.50 = R15 total

Is the above correct? is there any better way than the POS cash withdrawal?

I am sure this little trouble is still worth the eB earned

Thanks

Can this be done anywhere? PnP, Checkers, Woolworths, etc? I can't find a list of supported retailers on the website or ABCC PDFs

Has your debit balance ever exceeded your credit limit? Has your account been blocked or warmed before?

I've withdrawn at Checkers, Shoprite, PnP and Spar. Not sure about the rest. Pretty much any store that does cash at till will work, although I've found I have to actually buy something too for the withdrawal to work.

My card was warmed a couple of days after I first received it - their weird rule of not going above the credit limit seems to have caught us all out.

Why would someone go for this card when VM CC is free and the AB one is R69.00 PM? Same reason why I have not moved from VM to Capitec credit card (I bank with Capitec)....cause Capitec has a monthly fee, VM does not.
