JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has unveiled its new billboard located at the Queen Elizabeth Bridge in Johannesburg. The display, with the headline ‘The ANC has Killed the Lights,’ suggests that Eskom and the ANC have failed the country. Sunday’s unveiling comes days after South Africans were plunged into darkness for five consecutive days while the cash-strapped power utility battled coal shortages.

This is the second billboard unveiling by the DA as part of its elections campaign. Last month, the opposition party presented a display in the Johannesburg city centre, where it made claims that the ANC is responsible for the deaths of victims of the Life Esidimeni tragedy and the Marikana massacre.
DA member of Parliament John Steenhuisen says the unveiling is to highlight that the problem is not with Eskom but lies with the ruling party.

And exactly what would the DA do differently, given that they've taken the same racialist stance as the ANC, hmmm?
The question should rather be, with the shitfest the ANC dishes up, why is the DA not able to capitalise and win national elections? This is the fundamental question, they have to answer. Why is it the electorate does not gravitate towards them?

The DA has been remarkably poor at increasing its support the last year. The only reason to still vote DA is because no matter how poor they may be at governing SA should they win an election, they won't be worse than the ANC. And because there is no other opposition party big enough to win. So I guess they're still worth voting for.

The DA would split Eskom into two rather than three parts. They also mention the P-word: https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/...billboard-that-targets-load-shedding-20190217

"Through our 'cheaper electricity bill', Eskom will be broken into two separate entities, namely into a generation and a transmission entity. Our offer would see the generation entity privatised in an effort to break Eskom's monopoly, allowing independent power producers to compete on an equal footing in the generation sector," Steenhuisen said.

Sitting in the dark for hours on a time kills mine, to each his own I suppose, meh
The problem with this DA campaign is that they would with near certainty have had Eskom function either the same as today or slightly better but still useless.

The DA BBEEE acceptable policies is not much different from the ANC so the same scamsters and robbers would have been in place in Eskom. If the DA want to do something for this country and not just suck on its own dik they need to be all inclusive and with any BBEEE acceptance there is no inclusion for everyone on level playing field.

You simply wont get the best person for the job if you have racist policies, ANC, DA, EFF, does not matter who you have if the government issues policies tend to favor one over another then corruption will follow since the free market have no power over who gets the job vs who must get the job.

Yup it is the depressing reality. The DA is looking like idiots but by far the lesser of the idiots available to vote for with a chance of any real impact in the government.

Sad state of reality in SA politics. Do you vote for the goons still figuring out what an abacus is or do you vote for the hillbillies who actually know how to apply mathematics to distill their moonshine.
