Related to the Kimberley spokesperson thing. A woke defending the spokesperson.

Isn't it a requirement to be proficient in English and one to two other languages of the province you're in to work at a muni?
I see those requirements regularly on muni job ads in the local newspapers? I think NC is the same as WC with Afrikaans, Xhosa and of course English? And Tswana as well? If you're a municipal spokesperson shouldn't you be able to at least take questions in and sufficiently respond to them in English?

The funniest thing tho is how he implies that Afrikaans is solely a white language, even when the vast majority of speakers are non-white. Also, not everyone is capable of or needs to learn an "African" language (he also implies only black people speak the languages)? Since English is the de facto national language? Or you're in WC or NC where Afrikaans is the lingua franca?

I mean sure I could learn Zulu, but what bearing would that have on my daily life, how will it help me communicate with others in a province where it isn't spoken? I mean I could try to learn Xhosa, but I can't make the "click" sounds for the life of me. I've tried. The only Xhosa I know is from fourth grade, "Molweni bafundi" and "Molo titshalakazi". That's it.

So, in conclusion, typical woke grandstanding.

Wont be losing any sleep over what drivel this halfwitted twatter twat twats out to the other twatters......
:)
(And back in the dark apartheid days of school we had African languages at school...I recall I got bliksemed for saying 'Im a lolipop' instead of Amalolipop......teachers had no sense of humour back then!)

This tw@t

Hope he sprains his wrist - and it will give his tortie a break for a while........
He's right though but the lady didn't seem to have just a language problem and nothing wrong if she'd replied in her preferred language. People love to laugh at the way a person fails at a language. It is hypocritical.

And yet, every election the people keep voting for more. I have zero sympathy anymore. You fools asked for this!!! Now don’t come to me for handouts, or beg me for money because you have no food or electricity. Sorry for your situation that you voted for.
I think a solution should be that people must be openly clear about who they voted for. It makes it easier to discern wether to give a **** or not.
Newsflash to all the ANC voters: the struggle is over, 25 years ago. You instead created a new one. Enjoy!

Just promise you will keep on paying the tax, it would be very inhumane if you cut that out as well.

Sure, but when you’re hired as a spokesperson, the ability to be able to speak, preferably in the lingua franca, should be a determining factor.

Basically, if your job is communication, you need to be able to communicate in English regardless of your preferred or native language.

Yeah, she looked lost, like what you would have if you picked a random person from a group of protestors and ask them to articulate what the protest us all about.

It would be interesting to see other videos of her spokespersoning to understand if she was having a moment or she is always like that.
