The ANC wants government to tax every household to fund the SABC

So for example even if I don't have pets I will be forced to buy pet food on every visit to the grocer??
 
There it is again - the ignorant, socialist mindset. The fact that they are incompetent, corrupt and incapable of rendering an actual service somehow doesn't feature. Just grab as much as you can as fast as you can. What a sad Banana republic we have become.
 
Bad idea. No one appreciates stuff they don't have to work for. They'll just become a piggy bank to the patronage networks in the ruling party. And also give ridiculous increases and just serve as an employment agency.

They should just keep my salary and get it done with. Dont forget hidden taxes in SA. Loaded fuel tax, private security because polise non-functional, medical aid because government healthcare non-functional, private school for kids because public school bordering on non-functional etc.

So its' 45% tax on salary. 15% tax for VAT. 40% tax on petrol = 100%

I think they really are keeping your salary

Discussing "Taxing every household", that would be undercover communism:
(1) One of your human rights is to have freedom of choice. So if everyone is assumed to use SABC, it implies that your choice is made for you by the "Kremlin" in Tshwane.
(2) Since every household has to pay, the SABC board would be reporting only to the ruling political party, ie. the "Kremlin".
(3) What about blind households, they have no need for a TV? Do they have to pay as well?
(4) They could make it impossible for private TV companies, by simply raising the compulsory license fee to such a level that nobody who earns an honest living (meaning not looting from the state, ie. living according to an individual budget) would be able to afford a private TV channel.
So it is a stupid idea.
 
All I want is a break in life. So much tax because millions of freeloaders :crying:


I don't listen to the radio in my car. Have a Bluetooth playlist. There is no antenna plugged into my TV. It's called Youtube + Netflix. Leave me alone!

Oh man, classic government! How about a levy on the air that I breathe. Or, the amount of gas/hot air coming out of their orifices!
 
So the SABC Levy will be going the same way as the Fuel levy not for it's "purpose"
 
Tax the African National Corruption for the 5 trillion that they have stolen since 1994. Maybe if they pay that back there will be money to pay for everything.
