The ANC wants government to tax every household to fund the SABC

We:

1. Pay tax on our income
2. Pay tax on fuel
3. Pay tax on electricity
4. Pay tax on our rates
5. Pay tax on inheritance

Why tax us more? Or is this the 20th century version of the Gulag like their Communist friends have in Siberia, just on an economic level? Useless gits!

So like a TV license, just not as voluntary

Wait so what exactly am I paying almost half my salary for?

So the last time I checked owning a tv, with a tuner of some shape or form, requires a tv license which the last time I paid it was about +/- R265/yr or so not sure for a household (number TV sets don’t matter).

Anyway my point is this.. if you look at their expected vs income collected from tv license alone, you can easily see there is a problem. I’m not even talking fraud, corruption, staff long etc. just straight up revenue collection where due.

If you look at the DA and what they do when the come into power of a municipality.. what is if they do? Oh right they fix billing, collect on revenue not being collected and then work on efficiencies within org as that comes with cost.

I find hilarious that the same party justifies tolerating non-payment and fixing other parts and ignoring the elephant in the room when they would target revenue collection 1st along with other measures.

I never watch tv other than streaming btw for over a decade now and while I agree that fraud & corruption needs to be tackled, you don’t achieve that making the org get bailed out by tax payers. I’d say that causes other issues..

But then that’s me, I believe in fixing fraud & corruption directly instead of the BS people claim to steal directly.

So hey, why do people feel justified about driving on the eToll highway without paying? Is it fraud & corruption? Or is that, the people at the top of the economic pyramid that is SA have justified non-payment and well precedent is thus set. When the top does it, do really expect the bottom to pay?

You see this argument played out on these forums for YEARS..

all the animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others Comrade.

I can bet you anything those in power dont even pay ANY tax, only eat from the endless plate that is the taxpayer.

Yes, but that buffet is going to run out soon! Then it'll be scraps, and then each other.
No more colonialist (*spits on the ground at them*) cars, no more colonialist fancy suits and watches, no more colonialist expensive whiskeys and champagne. Scorched earth only...

Doesn't their entire argument contradict the user pays principle of eTolls?

Well TECHNICALLY the DA likes to raise rates and taxes on property by a significant margin. They did this to us in Port Elizabeth in 2016 when they took over, and the mayor was quoted as saying: "...the haves must pay for the have-nots".
Nice...this after going into a coalition with the UDM, EFF & PA who voted them out 18 months later (and the PA has sided with the DA now to vote the ANC/UDM out). It's stuff-up politics. So the DA has no issues p*ssing it's voters off.

well, look to the north Comrade, and see how the majority of Africa looks precisely like that,
just poverty, endless wars, and corruption.
and a coup every 20 min, but people stay dirt poor regardless.

now you understand why the Chinese see Africa as a resource to be exploited,
and people in Africa dont see any problem with that, yet.

will it ever change? unlikely,
unless some form of super Communism emerges from Africa,
as at one point even the Chinese were poor and underdeveloped, before the great leap (backwards).

can history repeat itself, maybe,
could possibly happen once again.

I'm going to start sending the ANC bills for hourly software development.

It shouldn't matter that I did nothing for them. They have to pay because they obtain access to software in their corporate environment.

No no no.... you don't get it.

I'm going to send them bills for hourly systems design and development at an inflated rate because someone somewhere in the country may just use it, even if they don't actually need to.

All of what you say is true, except for the part where some form of super Communism emerges from Africa...nothing has emerged from here that has taken on world politics...! Hehehehehe! I don't think their Chinese overlords are too worried about any political innovation shaking the world.
That said, I wonder if leaders in Africa realise China is the new colonial power here? Do they care? Or are they still worried about the whites? Where we will all be subject to what China wants, no matter the colour of our skins.

Historically, SABC non payment preceed etolls.

Tax revolt kind of expected when the funds are being stolen/corrupt ( remember etolls over charged with 80% of the revenue going to Austria)

you say that, but look back at how China emerged from its backward nature in the late part of the 20th centuary.
true, it cost them peoples lives and livelihoods,
and I'm often saying its possible however unlikely the same will happen once again, one never knows.
never say never as they always say.

might not even be the obvious candidate SA, might be somewhere even more unlikely like Rwanda
