Why Meh? What's the price tag on that baby?

Not cheap...as per all cars

You seem to be online a lot, yet you keep posting photos of stuff in print media. Do you like killing trees? :erm: :D

Online a fair bit yes but certain stuff I prefer in print/tangible media ie. the newspaper & odd magazine. Old school like that lol

Re: ^^ @FiestaST, please buy a scanner or at least flatten out the dead trees before taking pics of them :p

Lol noted...scanner to much of an effort though.

Hey Mike, still two days that aren't fully booked for the sports day. You would need to head to KZN though, Gauteng is full! KZN has spots open on the 15th and 16th of September

A colleague purchased a A4 last month (2010 model I think). The dealership told her today that she needs to add oil every 1,000 km.

Can this be true?

She is so pissed off, she wants to return the car.

She needs to check the oil, yes, but no she should not be adding oil every 1000km's. If that is the case the dealership did not disclose all defects and she should return the car forthwith.

The oil light came on in her 2nd or 3rd week of owning the car.

That vehicle needs to be checked by an independent mechanic, and then the dealership should fix whatever is wrong.

They gave her a defective vehicle.

Yeah, that is WTF levels of wrongness. Maybe using a lot of oil in the first few thousand KM from new yes, but not topped up every 1k for the whole lifetime.

So many A4's with the 2.0T petrol engine seem to have either a moderate or major thirst for oil. Mine uses around 3L every 15 000km. Some cars use up to 1L per 1000km. This is stated in the owner's manual as "acceptable" oil usage. But it is not. Request from the dealership to perform an oil consumption test. They fill the oil and then you return in 1000km and they measure the consumption. If it is way to much, they may take action and replace the piston/rings etc.

I also find it unacceptable that a modern engine can use so much oil. This means on a trip from JHB to CT, you would run out of oil just past half way - ridiculous!

If you just purchased the car, I would fight harder with them as it is clearly not you that caused the problem and they need to address it as a defect within 6 months of purchase.

Not a bad colour F/lift B8 S4; if it were my wheels I would prefer a more striking colour though

Mines 2007 with about 146K km's. I use about 1.5 to 2L between services.

I've never changed oil in a car before this - but they do state it's normal.

I just got back from the dealer and I think he quoted a pint per 1,000km or something

Yeah, I usually check oil every time I fill up, usually nene to top up every 3500-4000 km. 2004 A4 2.4...

I don't think I've had to top up the A6 and that's after about 4000km....

I'm curious - what engine is that, Dolby? My 2.0T used about the same. 2011 A5 Sportback. Only had it for about 30000km, but hot tired of driving with oil in my boot. Audi N1 also assured me this was normal.
