That is not great news, more so the lack of support, I would have suggested Enertec but @RedViking has decided they don't last.

I’m gonna get the same ones from the other supplier tomorrow morning probably. Tempted to get Ritar again but really don’t want more than two batteries in series to avoid parallel runs too.

Have disconnected the batteries in the meantime as takealot is picking them up tomorrow

I'm just trying to workout a good solution without any knowledge for the following

2x pcs and their screens (maxing out at 480watt each)
1x 55" qled tv + nvidia shield tv (probably about 150 watt combined, I should just measure it)
1x refrigerator max pull just over 1kv on startup

I could have a separate dyi box for the pcs and tv; then the refrigerator on its own. I'm not sure if the pcs would need 48vdc as 2x 108ahs should be enough for them to run at least 8 hours (haven't done the exact math here) and finally the refrigerator on it's own 2kva and also 2 batteries. Then at a later stage I could hook that up to panels and so on.

Otherwise everything from one box, and one set of panels with a switch (not sure what is the correct name here) which will switch off eskom when it's on solar or the solar when it is on eskom.

I am just not sure that that solar box at 8k without the batteries is the smartway to go or even cost effective. I don't have 150k zar now to spend for the full blown setup so it would have be added together as I go along.
No need to separate the circuits, with the fridge it's just a momentary surge, you just need an inverter that can handle that, after that it will be back to very low wattage.

There are many kits available from plenty online shops but I am afraid to recommend them as most are shops I have never used before.

I have bought from the SolarUPS guys before, here's a kit from them. It won't be much backup on your load but two more batteries on top of that, with solar to boost the batteries you can have a decent system. I don't know what your budget is but consider kits that come with Lithium batteries as well.

100Ah for 4.5 hours isn’t enough. You have discharged them too much, combined with the lack of a full charge for the next cycle, and those volts... you basically discharged to zero which has ruined them.
That depends on the load, but laptop, monitor, speakers will go for 8 hours or so.

It's enough if the load is only 100W tho :p

Ah yeah, then they should be fine. But the charger seems pretty pap then not to get them back up to float before the next one. The lack of full recharge and float before discharging has definitely ruined them.

I’ve just put back my 6 year old pap batteries in place of the ones being returned tomorrow. Let’s see.

Yeah, the growatt deal better, only R3000 more and is 3kVA and 2.4kWh battery instead of 1.2.
Mecer 200Ah and a 3kVA inverter, both for under R12k, cables and stuff should still leave you under R15k.

You'd need 2 of those it's a 24v inverter.

Right, I forgot, R13k for the batteries and 5k for the inverter. Although if I have to pay R13k I would just pay slightly more to get a battery I could build a bank with.

Yup would just get a 24v pylon tech for a bit more

I would go with hubble batteries as you'll be able to parallel and extend your bank.

Are you sure they are compatible with that inverter. On the specification page one gets this note:

The solar battery is ONLY Compatible with 24V Voltronic inverters

I have a mercer inverter connected to a royal 105Ah battery, the inverter screen shows the percentage of discharge. It goes down to 25% and I think I have ruined the batteries.
I am planning to buy new batteries. But how do i set the discharge percentage on the inverter ? I want to set it to 50%.

Voltronic usually refers to the whole Axpert, Mecer and the various other clones.
