The best graphics cards to buy right now

With the festive season over, many gamers who saved their pennies in 2018 will be looking to get a new graphics card in the first quarter of 2019.

There are a range of new and old graphics cards available at the moment, ranging from the top-of-the-range Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to the more budget-friendly Radeon RX 580.

The best cards to buy are dirt cheap ex-mining 1080s and 1080tis because some miners are HURTING right now.
ftfy. Free energy ftw, can hold out till the price recovers again at a bigger margin.

Don't go for anything under 8GB.
If you're talking budget, 8GB is overkill considering most budget gamers will be playing at 1080p.

There's no mention of the 1060 6GB here, which is a shame. Ex-mining, under a year old they can be picked up for under R2k if you're lucky.

There is no mention of gtx 1060 cause at retail level the rx570/580 is better.

Article wasn't about the second hand. market. Need to compare apples with apples. Not everyone is willing to buy second hand.

I checked and can't find these really cheap grfx cards. Don't know where these mythical ex mining cards are.

Yip and then there's the rx 590 that has an even bigger lead on the 1060 and costs less than the majority of 1060s.

The 1050ti is no longer worth buying as you can get a rx 570 for the same price and it's miles ahead in performance.

Sold out at most retailers and nvidia has stopped producing them.
Not really out of stock, large oversupply of them still, just trickling out in order to keep a bit of demand/prod towards the RTX series.

Picked up a second-hand 1060 on carbonite for R1700. Still 2 years on the warranty

Struggling to decide on whether to get a 1060 or wait for Navi.
