the carb models.
yes, not a v8, but to me its the first car I drove myself,
so say what you want, means a lot to me, as its the car I passed my test on.
I understand what you mean, 8 valves do make a nice noise, especially the induction noise from fuel injected models if you have a proper intake system not just a crappy cone filter.

nope, just a stock standard unmolested Toyota Tazz 130.
no cone filter, no FSI no nothing, simplicity itself.

Heard a Maserati GT, i think it was a MC Stradale on full throttle by Melrose Arch. Really awesome.
Also heard a Mazda RX8 at the back of Durbanville hills, also full throttle sounds like a superbike went pass me. I think I was in my first year at that time.

I'm going to narrow it down and list cars I've been in and/or driven. Otherwise the list would be too long. So:

Merc C63 AMG (passenger)
Merc SLS AMG (passenger)
Merc ML63 AMG (driven)
BMW M4 (driven)

It does seem a little sad though.
But if its your first car, its glorious.

I had a single ohv 250 honda engine from a cement mixer or something from which I removed the exhaust and messed around with the intake so it could rev, that was the first engine I owned and I thought it sounded glorious, had so many dreams of building that into a go cart and stuff.

Rotaries do sound absolutely amazing. You can pick up a RX8 so cheap as well these day's. One day is one day.

Any V10, but my favourite is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP520 (Original 2004 model engine) with the crossplane crankshaft.

Second Place, Maserati GT 5.7L V8.
