That to me is still the biggest con. If it was about the technology it would have used a stable asset to trade on the blockchain. But from its inception Bitcoin was touted as being deflationary so it's more about the value and a way to get rich than about the technology.

It doesn't matter to me what the price is. I buy every month. I buy whenever I have a bonus. I buy all the time. I got into crypto only seriously 2 years ago but its been the best savings technology for me. My time horizon is 10 years. The only things I can see comparable to the gains over that time frame, are Tesla, SpaceX and if it was spun out into its own company, Starlink.

If you give me R10k right now to buy bitcoin, I'll put in under my mattres. Bitcoin is build on tears. Even if it goes to $30k, that thing will crash to $10k. Play careful. You odds are equal at the casino.

i put in some money about 2 or so years ago and lost most of it through bad trades (not money i'll miss and i knew the risks), then with only a couple hundred left i bought when it was 90k and then sold when it got to 220k (thought it would crash again). obviously wished i held out a bit longer, but not sad about almost being even again.
