Interesting thread. I've thought back to some of my cars, didn't have too bad depreciation. The latter 2 has higher monthly number because they cost more, percentage of purchase price seems to be lower than 1% per month still.
The first 3 cars being purchased during August, pure coincidence on timing when I found something I liked at a decent deal.
The scirocco was well liked, but I decided to treat myself to my realistic dream car and just couldn't justify holding on to two cars. The new owner got an offer after a few months for R270k, it was in excellent condition and I was sure I could get more, but had to make a call, even though I could wait I didn't have garage space for it, so took the loss.
Entry 1:
1) 2000 Golf 4 GTI
2) Purchased in 2010, August, +/-224 000km
3) Paid R50k, financed
4) Sold after 24 months, R48k, +/-272000km
5) Not sure, but remember I was nailed on interest so lost a bit more than the R2k
Entry 2:
1) 2007 Seat Leon FR
2) Purchased in 2012, August, +/- 117000km
3) Paid R110 000, financed
4) Sold after 60 months, R87k, +/- 190 000km
5) Not sure, paid up after about 3 years
Here's where things go a bit downhill...
Entry 3:
1) 2012 Scirocco R manual
2) Purchased in 2017, August, +/-63 000km
3) Paid R270 000, financed
4) Sold after 16 months, R238 500, +/- 75 000km
5) Possibly from day 1, put all previous proceeds into account, paid up by the time I sold it
Entry 4:
1) 2016 Audi RS3 Sportback
2) Purchased November 2018, +/- 43 000km
3) Paid R650 000, financed (was R900k plus when bought new, checked with audi, decent extras list)
4) Still have it and intent to keep it, 22Seven gives me a value of R508k, however I extended freeway plan with Audi for 4 more years, R38k. Scanning gumtree, they go for around R550k - R650k. Mileage is currently 69 000km.
5) From month 2, dumped proceeds of previous sale into account, paid up after 24 months.
The above doesn't take into account warranty costs, maintenance costs and other costs of ownership.
I had no major out of warranty repairs, the Seat needed a clutch, about R8k I think and also did the brakes before selling, can't recall if the R8k included that only paid for parts. Amazingly the golf 4 had no major issues at that mileage, some general maintenance was required though.
