No, I believe the real power in the DoC is wielded by Lyndall Shope-Mafole. And she won't step up to take the #1 spot if they fire Ivy. They'll just get someone else to take all the flak while Lyndall keeps on running the show behind the scenes...

If the guidelines are presented as they stand, President Mbeki ought to fire both Matsepe-Casaburri and Shope-Mafole. He won’t, of course, but SA deserves better than the nonsense they are peddling.

Only two things can explain the current mess.

1. Low IQs
2. Corruption

I'll let Ivy choose which one suits her best.

With the exception of the Defense & Mining sectors, the Telecoms ministry is the most corrupt in our beloved country. There are so many vested interests held by our ministers in the various telecoms companies, and they are all going to loose out if there was normal competition in this sector.

As much as I would like to see her head role, I would hate to contemplate who Mbeki would put in her seat!

So much for Tabs saying he would remove any civil servant that does not perform their duties - had a good laugh when the home affairs came in and the Minister says you cannot fire people because they cannot do their job, you must train them - remember when cutting heads off, you have to boil them in vinegar

Ivy is turning 70 on the 18th of Sept.
AFAIK woman have to retire at 70 so she doesn't need to be fired becuase she has to go because of her age.

The civil service retirement age for women is 60. But then, Ivy is not a civil servant in the legal context - she is a politician - there are no retirement age for politicians, just ask uncle Bob and some of the other persons in Thabo's cabinet.
