SBV Services security team fights back against CIT heist suspects in Eastern Cape
Following a pursuit and defence by the SBV team who chased the suspects, the robbers fled the scene, leaving the cash behind.

A four-man SBV Services ATM security team team came to the rescue of industry colleagues during a cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery in Libode, Mthatha, in the Eastern Cape on Friday, the company said in a statement.
“A G4S [security] team servicing a store in a shopping centre in Libode was attacked by an unknown number of armed suspects who attempted to rob their client’s money boxes,” the statement said.
The SBV team had just completed an ATM service and had reached their vehicle, ready to leave the centre. As they were about to leave, they witnessed the suspects carrying the boxes and responded to a shout for assistance from the G4S team.

Hawks win forfeiture order after Cape Town cash-in-transit heist

The high court in Cape Town has ordered the forfeiture of two vehicles and R290,000 from suspects in two Hawks cases.

In the first case, the court ordered the forfeiture of a VW Polo and R290,000, seized after a robbery in Mitchells Plain in 2015, said Hawks spokesperson Captain Philani Nkwalase.

“It is alleged that on December 28 2015, SBV [security company] vehicle driver Fuzile Artwell Rala, 39, was approached by a suspect whilst the crew was busy outside loading cash at the ATM, situated at the petrol station in Promenade Mall,” said Nkwalase.

The vehicle drove off and was recovered in Khayelitsha, where Rala told police he had been ordered to stop. He was arrested the next day.

“Further investigation linked four suspects to the robbery and the Hawks members seized a VW Polo worth R75,000 and a total cash amount of R290,000 from different suspects,” said Nkwalase.

The high court ordered that the car be auctioned and the cash be deposited into the criminal assets recovery account.

Cash-in-transit heist report: Fidelity security officials among 7 nabbed for allegedly staging robbery

Seven people, including six Fidelity Security Group employees, have been nabbed in connection with allegations that they participated in a staged cash-in-transit robbery in Makapanstad, North West and later shared the spoils.

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said three of the people were supervisors and another three were security guards, while the seventh suspect was an outsider.

"It is alleged that on March 13 this year, a Fidelity security van was derailed after it was shot at and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money by a group of armed robbers. An unknown number of suspects who were using two vehicles shot at the security vehicle and poured it with a liquid substance and threatened to burn it, forcing the security guards to exit it.

"The security guards who were in the vehicle, were reportedly disarmed and ordered to open the back of the security vehicle where a third vehicle joined in and one of the alleged robbers retrieved an undisclosed amount of money and the gang allegedly fled the scene."

Mulaudzi said preliminary investigations conducted by the North West Serious Organised Crime Investigation team revealed that the officials allegedly conspired and staged the robbery.

"The team managed to recover more than 60% of the loot that they had shared amongst themselves which is going to form part of evidence. The guards' firearms which were allegedly said to have been taken by the robbers, were found at the scene of the alleged CIT [heist] by a member of the public. The investigators shall also look at possible contravention of the Firearms Control Act against the security [officials] who left them at the scene while pretending to have been robbed."

“A shootout ensued but the brazen suspects abandoned their vehicle in front of Cloetesville police station and jumped into a police van and sped off.”
How chicky of them. It looks like in South Africa police vehicles are used by criminals almost as much as they are used by policeman.
