haha - you were the one boasting about R15k a month rent on a R1.8m property, and now you made losses? How long did the tenant default for? And didn't you mention that you had insurance cover for lost rental?

Shame man, looks like you being economical with the truth again....

I do recall talking about tax losses a few years ago in a rental property question.

You have your proof, I have mine. I had insurance cover after the major default, and then I had a default tenant during insurance, and now I no longer have insurance, I think I even mentioned this before.

Ja, ja, tell someone who believes you.

When you get audited by SARS, perhaps you're proof will stand up. Or not.

How much gold there is on the planet doesn't matter. What matters is the amount of gold we can access and use for a currency.

The reason why people call gold "constant" is because the rate that we add to it is really, really slowly.

uh huh, really really slow you say

I've been audited plenty times by SARS, the most aggressive was the year after I stopped working. I think I mentioned the multiple audits by SARS before

You have? I must have missed it. Where did you mention it?

And are you referring to a proper audit, or just that thing on efiling where they ask you to supply supporting documentation?

I have at times wondered how possible it would be to implement a negative income tax here but I doubt government is capable of the required administration on one hand and if you touch the grants there will be riots.
Actually the government shouldn't be involved with anything like that. Aside from disability and old age grants, giving someone an income stream for something they don't have to work for isn't going to get them out of poverty. The problem is that there is no way for a government to decide who should get help and who shouldn't fairly.

The solution is to privatise this section of welfare.

Change the tax act such that a good portion of an individual's taxable income has to go to charities of their choice. The charities have to be designated to helping people. So it can be a homeless shelter, an orphanage, an adult education center, a school, a soup kitchen and so on.
Charities have non-dependable income so they are incentivised to make people less dependant on them.

Yup.

Do you think the amount of gold in the planet's core (which is where most of the world's gold is) influences the price of gold on the surface?

certainly the quantity of fiat currency does

the fact remains, just like bitcoin, the supply of gold is fixed

Until a new supply is found and devaluates the current supply, then the powers that be panic and start to think out bogus cassius beli to somehow plug the hole.... I wonder if that was one of the real reasons for the second boer war, the global diamond and gold supplies were being devalued by the boer mines and all efforts to constrain supply was being fobbed off.

I only pay levies and rates? maybe you want to tell my tenant that, because I just spent R30k painting the house and now spending R20k replacing the kitchen cupboards LOL

and you forget about the tenant that defaulted and where I incurred so much losses that they were ring fenced

but yeah you have your proof, I have mine
Does your tenant/s pay rent?
You exploiting someone who does not own a place to stay?
