So not sure how many people are going to follow this, but I think from a SA perspective, it should be good viewing. Just tuned in to the swimming heats to see Chad le Clos and Roland Schoeman comfortably getting through heat one in the mens 50m butterfly.

Our hockey team is doing well at the moment, 7 nil up at half time against Trinidad and Tobago.

Did anyone watch the opening ceremony? My Scottish mates are all over Facebook saying it was rubbish but I enjoyed it.

I'm bumping this thread up since nobody seems to be talking about the games. And I think South Africa is doing well! :)

SA won gold in the Lawn Bowls - Mixed Pairs for the visually impaired. (Gentle 2nd from left and lady on far right - the other couple are their 'guides')

Rugby 7s should be interesting. Blitzbokke must win against Samoa and then crush the sheep shaggers.

Cycling is entertaining. I like to see cat & mouse games.

Nice to watch and relish. We broke their monopoly. Now waiting and waiting and waiting for the metal ceremony...

I really hope that SASCOC and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation takes note of the performance of our athletes in this edition of the CWG and pumps money into developing our sports stars in sports other than the big three. We have world class swimmers yet to the best of my knowledge, the swimmers still have to go overseas to train (or is that no longer the case). Also, our hockey players are some of the best in the world, but battle to find sponsors (not sure if Spar is still sponsoring hockey).
