The cost of a basic food basket in South Africa is up R100 in six months – Massmart

The price of a basic basket of 23 grocery items has risen by 13% since February this year, Massmart Holdings said on Wednesday at the announcement of its first-half results to June 26 2016.

Staples such as maize, sugar and peanut butter had among the highest increases.

I think this is good. Hopefully the masses get pissed off with this and start revolting against the government they've elected.

Tighten your belts (not only because you'll now get less food for your money) because the ride is about to get bumpy.

R100 is a big jump since feb. fsucking retailers. record profits in 'drought' time. when operating pressure goes down the prices they charge don't follow that down.
