There is no spoon....

Anyone remember 3d tvs?

My LG 3d was awesome. I wish they continued with them. With the right content, and good surround sound they were great

I have a (now old) plasma with active 3D glasses and still occasionally pull them out to watch Avatar in 3D along with DTS. It is much more immersive than the 2D version even if a bit OTT in some places.

If the content is reasonable with respect to quality, then the experience is too. I expect this technology is taking a bit of a hiatus, but I fully expect it to make a return some day.

and the curved penis?

Dime a dozen I believe. They're here to stay

A marginally better experience for the 2 people sitting in the sweet spot and a worse experience for everybody else

Curved TV's have no benefit, it's a marketing scam. The only thing they do is distort the picture more.

Maybe not so much. Two folks commenting on their experience does not make a consensus of course (and consensus is not necessarily helpful), nor does some folks who have had a negative experience on this board, but you could have done a bit of research before you posted your comment:

And, VR, is at its heart 3D. And that is not going to go away any time soon either, although it does still remain niche.

A third perspective is always helpful.

Just because the production and consumer end of the tech is not sufficiently mature yet, doesn't mean it won't be useful long term (besides a bit of entertainment).

The first job I had in computing in the early nineties last century was in "artificial intelligence". It worked in DOS and had two core technologies, described then as "backwards and forwards chaining" and "case based reasoning". Now we have "machine learning". But the tech took a huge hiatus in the interim except by those who believed in it, and still it is struggling to pass the Turing test entirely.

One day artificial intelligence might not just be the next big thing, but be the thing.

So, ja, I think your comment was short sighted.

Don't intend to comment further.

Why are you posting articles about 3D?

Never bothered with the hype of buying one, nor this ridiculous 4k/ 8k craze.
I wonder how many people understand the basics of ability of human eye to detect colours and resolution vs screen size.
Done.

He comes in, makes some comments or another, and then "Don't intend to comment further." his way out of the forum.

Feels like he has personal grudge against you and also needs to justify his R20K VR gear he bought.

And his comments about AI landscape are kinda absurd too.

Maybe it's my old eyes, but I can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K on a desktop monitor.

And with a larger TV I can see the differences if I pay attention.

Ability of your eyes to detect finer angular resolution at that close distance and small screen size
And with a larger TV I can see the differences if I pay attention.
See above

Of course as one ages so does the acuity of our eyes deteriorate.
