Credit where credit due to Baloyi but it does look like he had his differences with the DA leadership and is leaving politics.

He opted to go out quietly rather than engage in social media fights.

They will need to find someone good to replace him.

Having control of the city despite not having a majority should still enable them to provide basic services, Joburg is also under coalition yet it is nowhere close to the state that Tshwane is in.

Problem is that they have found time and means to do all the things they were not supposed to do without a majority yet they are failing at the basic thing they are supposed to do.
That coalition is a clusterfuk with all the scurrying cockroaches, continuously throwing a spanner in the works. It's plain for all to see that coalitions with EFF is a recipe for failure and disaster.

87 municipalities red flagged for collapse by the government...43 MORE have just been added to the list.

It is so ironic...now that the municipal clusterfuks are becoming worse and more exposed. The Western Cape is seen as a DA stronghold ( rightly and luckily so ) and Cape Town is seen as the most racist place in South Africa.

But the Western Cape has by far the most successful and fiscally responsible municipalities in South Africa.

Stage 1 loadshedding when the rest of SA has stage 2....maximum 2hours at a time as well. When power comes back on, there are no substations blowing up etc.

What a pleasure to live here.

You can't blame the failings of the DA on the EFF, sometimes you just have to accept their blunders and hang your head in shame instead of wanting to blame the EFF. It is not the EFF who sent them on their cadre deployment in Tshwane, they did that on their own, that's why Msimanga was so ashamed he ran away as fast as he could from that mayoral seat.

The dodgy tenders that were signed under the DA administration were not done so with the EFF pointing at their heads.

And yes, they managed to do all that without a majority, yet now a lack of a majority is the problem when they can't fix potholes?

Because apparently it falls under dept of public works & infra?

I like this well-fed look DA councilors are sporting these days - must be to counteract other parties rotunds? .
Noted but there's plenty of roads that fall squarely under the municipality that are in a state of disrepair.

Sure..."hang my head in shame"

The DA runs the best municipalities in this country...the ANC has destroyed 130 out of what...220 ?

Of course these coalitions cause major problems...it is obvious. But keep ignoring the facts and keep trying desperately to save face....it is obvious who knows how to run local government, and who is just there to steal.
