Why not make a new SA politics thread? Doesn't need to be combined, it's reaching its post limit as is, and a fresh start is better.

Problem is there are folks who get butt hurt when bad things are said about party A, so they flood the thread with good things about party A, or bad things about party B.

Still, the butthurt would be centralised then instead of all over the place.

Trollip was pretty high up in the DA, but now that he is with ASA, he will surely be painted as a bad person.

Maybe but it will be very naive for the DA to do that. Very few people in politics, especially long-serving politicians are totally clean and it is very likely that Trollip knows sensitive things about key DA figures (Zille, Tony Leon etc) that the DA won't want public like Mashaba did when he said Leon was trying to get a tender from him.

It will work two ways in this case.

Mashaba is scum - he basically sold many voters a big fat lie ...I'm sure many of those voting for Mashaba in suburban JHB might be feeling a twinge of regret now. He was an EFF acolyte while DA mayor... leopards never change their spots.

Mhhm, he's also had goes at Malema several times and he could not join the EFF because of his polar opposite views to their policy.

He may work well with some EFF members but his views are not at all compatible with the EFF. Mashaba's also made his love of Trump and Trump like policies known.

Okay, looks like there's some context to the admission. Zille says the mayor of Jhb asked Mashaba to go find out what the EFF's voting strategy for committee chairs will be in the city given that the EFF flipped and voted with the ANC in Ekurhuleni. The idea was apparently to find out what the EFF strategy would be so they (the DA coalition) could counter.
