"They are trying to silence me! They must hear what I have to say, I am a somebody!"

That's what I got from that.

Anybody know what it is she is trying to say that they don't want to hear?

One thing is clear, the DA is about to make a big mess just before the election if they don't handle this well.

Steenhuisen should retract his kind offer, since it is clearly not being well received and the DA should pursue the long, hard way of getting rid of van Damme.

Tbh, I won't be surprised if EFF takes over DA soon in terms of voting percentage in the next one.

I’m not in the Cape (KZN) and I don’t vote. I listened to Steenhuisen’s acceptance speech and I thought it was limp wristed and ingratiating. Welcome to the new boss, same as the old boss. Odd. When he was just an MP he made good speeches.

That's insubordination. She must go!

I would want the party I support to be open to debating any issue raised until the party has clear policy and guidelines on what it stands for. If then that policy is not to the linking of individuals they have various options
1) Accept the decision and move on if it does not cause you too much harm
2) Do no accept and leave the party if it is really unpalatable or
3) stay in the party and continue to try to convince others within the party of why your viewpoint should be considered. If someone else "leaks" those disagreements to the press, then there are other issues in the party which needs to be addressed, but not the disagreement being debated inside the party.

That said, publicly one should not openly disagree with the official policy as that would be detrimental to the party. One can possibly say that "Supporters have raised some questions which we will need to address internally, rather than going public with disagreements"

I hope that option 3 is still valid within the DA as that is what is needed. Robust debate with different points of view.

The DA with their policies and actions under Maimane drove me away and I found another home where I feel more comfortable with their policies of real non-racialism.

As this thread correctly identifies: The DA is still in crisis, ever since their main enemy Jacob Zuma left.

They most definitely will lose more support to the VF+. JS has hardly been inspiring since he took over and he does not yet have the respect of Afrikaner conservatives.

If it is the VF+, they can't be trusted. Remember that they were strengthened when they merged with the Pro-Apartheid Conservative Party and Afrikaner Eenheidsbeweging. These groups initially thought that even Constand Viljoen (who was a strong right-winger) was too moderate.

Even the leader Groenewald was part of the CP. They might not have a lot of power now but they most definitely have members who support white nationalism and who are racist.

Winde is one of the few DA people whom I admire. He has not hesitated to say things which his party core electorate would disagree with in the past.

Unfortunately, JS seems like a yes man to HZ and the IRR.

I agree with PvD, Steenhuisen is a coward, he should have just reshuffled his cabinet instead of going on about pretending to care about her health and giving her an unwelcomed sabbatical.
