A shining beacon of hope until they immediately started eating themselves from the inside.

Yes, but point is they never had strong white support. Even when they did well in 2009, their voters were drawn from Mbeki's faction of the ANC.

What we are getting at is that the vast majority of white people in this country vote along racial lines. There are outliers but most would never fathom voting for a majority black party, even one which was competent.

No one is triggered. What would you do if you find out those "comrades" actually voted for DA?
I would tell them to rather vote FF+ And that's coming from a guy that can't speak afrikaans. That's how disappointing the DA is, just another rip off organisation.

Isn't that a convenient excuse though? what proven capability of running a country did the DA have before white people voted for it to run the WC?

None, but the voters were competent enough to not keep voting the mess that is the ANC. Why can't the rest of the country do the same? This would force the ANC and others to shape up or ship out. You know, how democracy is supposed to work? Vote for a new party when the current one ****s up.

Personally, I could never get myself to vote for the likes of VF+, ACDP, AMP, etc.

So the white voters knew that after the fall of the NP they had to find another white party to vote for? It did not matter that they had no proven capability of running a country, as long as the party was white, angithi mnganam?

Because they are a minority party, people tend to overlook their faults, but the VF+ has many flaws just as the DA and members who subscribe to some really outlandish beliefs and conspiracy theories.

No, I guess they gave the "non racial" ANC a chance but the ANC ****ed up and did the democratic thing and voted for someone else. I would say it was more the coloured voters that didn't have this mental block about voting for a "white party".

Yeah, it's like how I choose an ISP. I choose the one with the quietest thread. After voting since 94 for the DA, I will now put my faith in FF+

That's where I am as well. I actually believe that if we did "blind tests" on individuals on policies, many DA supporters would actually find they more closely align with the FF than the DA (take a short read of the 2019 FF+ manifesto) but because the FF is regarded as a bit of a joke by the media (including much of the English-language media), there is no contemplation of voting for the FF even if you are unhappy with the DA.

This tweet from a DA supporter kind of sums it up for me:

I'm not interested in the past, only the present and future.
