128 Circulation coins and 61 Proof coins if I am not mistaken. A friend of mine is buying up all the proof 1931 Tickeys when he comes across them from collectors. He probably owns about 14 graded proof 1931 Tickeys.

128 was the total mintage. 62 proofs and 66 for circulation. Dammit, your friend is pushing up the value and scarcity making it harder for me to get one I know Randburg Coin has a 1931 proof set, which includes one, but it was almost 500K when I enquired.

Yes, you are right, and my friend believes the coins should stay out of circulation. He collected them over the past 30 or so years.

There is now a circulation tickey on BoB, but the buyer is asking a bit too much - R5m. Doubt he will sell it at that price.

Back in 2020, Heritage Auctions sold a whole 1931 set, including the Tickey for US$14.400. That was probably around R210k.
