Either way, the clear pathway of destruction means there was a tornado there. Seen or unseen makes no difference. The trajectory can be followed in a clear line.

You would expect other news outlets and the SA Weather Service to report on it then?

Lots of damage? Sorry to hear that.

Neighbours are worse off. Couch ended up in a tree. Chimney blew off and landed in another neighbour's lounge. Tiles all over the place, broken windows, smashed locks on gates, broken gates.

Report what?

Did you the trajectory of the damage yesterday?

How would the weather services be able to report a Tornado without visual confirmation? They have wind meters now ever suburb and street? /facepalm

The tornado was not completely visible because it travelled over a built up area. So there was very little dust and dirt to pick up which would have made it more visible. We can see its effects clearly though from the isolated damage in some areas.

And today's such a beautiful day....

It's coming...

I'm confident we'll have some Highveld later afternoon storms. The grass on my plot is growing at a massive rate. I have exams ahead the next two weeks. mowing it after these two weeks is going to kill me :(

Depending on where you are relative to the storm it's not always clear and perfect skies. Johannesburg residents probably fled from the hail as their first priority. This particular one doesn't look like it was perfectly on the ground the whole time as well though still strong enough to cause a lot of damage.

Bit difficult to imagine a storm that is not a tornado lifting a couch into a tree. That is really bad!

Very true.

All I know is that yesterday happened very fast.

There were no clouds above us. It was clear weather here in Krugersdorp. I suddenly heard this large ominous sound and walked towards the door. First thing I saw was hail started hitting us and then the skies to the back of us was dark and grey. We had clouds, wind, hail and rain for about 10 minutes, the clouds moved over and sun came out in about another 10 minutes later.
