If anything does form, I suspect it'll remain far to the south of Gauteng... :(

Meh! The apps are all pretty pathetic in their predictions.

The TAF for ORT is the only one that shows a 30% probability of some isolated thunderstorm activity late tonight
ORT: TC 1-2 oktas 13:00 - 15:00 30% prob
ORT: TS 15:00 - 22:00 30% prob

LA, WB, WK: TC 1-2 oktas 14:00 - 18:00 30%

Tomorrow is different. The 30% probability of TS extends over a broader area.

TC--Towering Cumulus
TS--Thunderstorm

Yeah, but its all medium level stuff blowing in from the west - nothing convective showing up on the radar yet, except some very isolated cells near Warburton
The instability is not caused by surface heating, but by an upper-level trough. Some of the predicted rain may evaporate without actually reaching the surface.

Looks like we may get some isolated rain much later tonight/into the early hours of the morning :D
