The TS forecasts are rather good for GP, even if the current storm movement direction is confusing, to say the least.
The lack of TAFs either means nothing significant or, the forecasters are still working on the Excel spreadsheets

Nothing significant will be something like below :) NIL just means no forecast available, and is either just someone who hasn't done their excel work yet, or uncertainty

The reason I'm going with uncertainty this evening is because of the amended Lanseria TAF

Code:
TAF FAJS 171600Z 1718/1824 18005KT 9999 CAVOK
TX20/1812Z TN09/1804Z=

Sorry, high degree of uncertainty for the Pretoria region

There is a simple practical reason why there are no storms expected for the 'minor' airports such as Wonderboom. They only have forecasts valid for the next 6-9 hours.

They rationale goes something as follows: Airports with short runways restricted to medium-haul B737 aircraft do not need to predict the weather for incoming long-haul flights. ORT definitely does, and Lanseria does for biz-jets. There is no point in making a forecast for an aircraft that is hours away from being ready to file flight-plans (including fuel-calculations for alternate diversions).

Its looking nice and dark towards harties, and the radar confirms there are some active storms moving towards PTA and JHB

Guess yesterday car wash did the trick

Good on you, lad. Now if you could just leave it parked outside somewhere, let's see if we can make that "large amounts of small hail" prediction come true, shall we?
