How much it costs to import an electric bakkie to South Africa

South African residents will pay up to 71.5% more than retail to import an electric bakkie from the US as a result of the country's exorbitant import taxes.

MyBroadband calculated how much it would cost to import three electric bakkies — the Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and GMC Hummer EV2 — to South Africa.

Same applies to normal vehicles, was looking at the cost of a Volvo XC40 Recharge, seems to be about R300k more than what it should be (just a thumbsuck).

The vehicle costs about USD 50k overseas, which is already quite expensive, compared to alternatives.

And it does not come with a spare wheel at all (no runflats), that could be a death sentence in SA.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is not available yet for purchase, it has been announced but it is not on the market. It goes on actual sale (in the US) in '24.

........and the Government still cries they have no money.

That's pretty much par for the course across the board.
When I see American YouTubers moaning about inflation and pricing I just roll my eyes and take another bite of my two-minute noodle and polony dinner.

Ridiculous all these taxes we have.

Well they don't, the cadres have all the money.
