When I reflect on how our lads got smacked by the Afghans and see this, it raises my concerns that our problems are a lot greater than first imagined. Maybe this is a different track, just cannot help but draw comparison.

Yeah, there was a time when we would just murder minnows in a "how dare you pitch up to play us" kind of way. I remember Donald sending the UAE captain to hospital for daring to come out and face him without a helmet. Gone are those days... :(

True story. However, we mustn't forget the nature of this format. On the day, any team can be beaten. There have been enough examples in the past to vindicate this. Unfortunately for us, we hold our team to such high standards that a defeat to a 'minnow' wouldn't be tolerated (even in T20).

It would have been a fairy tale result for the Afghans. Taking down a tier 1 team would have had them in ecstasy.

/sigh

We suck... Tomorrow the WI put us out of the cup...

I remain forever hopeful. Not sure if Gayle will be fit for this clash. If he isn't, it gives a small chance (although the way Fletcher stepped up to the challenge says tons about the "gees" in this WI team).

Never thought I'd say this, but JP out of the game is a fair blow to the odds. Who they play on the day and how they balance the batting and bowling will be critical. The selectors got it horribly wrong by including Wiese for Steyn. Just ridiculous to think we are struggling in the field and they drop the calibre of Steyn for Wiese. That is just :wtf:

I agree. Hit and giggle pyjama cricket is unpredictable. On paper this is a team that should knock over any other. It's just that the confidence in the brains-trust behind it, unfortunately, are showing that they are clueless when it comes to addressing issues. Like I said, if your bowling is poor, don't go and drop a top class bowler for an all-rounder. That was a pathetically ridiculous decision.

Hopefully Gayle will be warming the bench with JP. That is probably our best shot to beat them...

Phew, not going to lie Lads, i was getting a bit nervous there for a second.

I knew the second they blast 50 odd for that last partnership that they were safe. That deflated the Afghans. A better team would've made a better fist of that chase but the result really wasn't in doubt after that.

I was still worried up until the last over, i only relaxed when Afghan required 20 off 1 ball.
