The incredible story behind Afrihost

So you say Armstrong, Visser and Meintjes were all educated at King Edward VII Schools? At the preparatory and high school? And that this school keeps on producing outstanding men in all fields of human endeavor?
Interestingly the following we’re also friends from Grade 1 at King Edwards:
Sir Mark Weinberg
Sir Sydney Lipworth &
Sir Donald Gordon
AND old boys
Sir Sidney Kentridge, Johan Kriegler and Richard Goldstone served together on the Constitutional Court.

Got nothing but bad service.

I had to wait till my 2 year Telkom ADSL contract finally expired before I joined the Afrihost Pure Fibre party.

I have just had super service since that day I kicked Telkom to the kerb.
I cannot recommend Afrihost enough to people I know.

Telkom was hell. Afrihost is heaven.

Thank you Afrihost. Just bring back your Free installation and I will get you another subscriber. :p

Yes I have been using Afrihost ADSL from almost day one and I must say I have just been getting the best service there is. Vuma is busy rolling out fiber in our town, and other than the R1497 installation fee charged, I would have used Afrihost as my fiber provider in a heart beat. Installation is just a little steep, I am not sure why there is a installation charge on Vuma fiber as providers like Octotel and Evotel offers free installation.

It does vary from provider to provider. We charge that fee as an upfront fee as we do subsidize by adding it into a 24 month claw back. It can be a bit steep for a once off fee.

I also know of someone who is moving soon and she also wants to join Afrihost (based on my experience), but the installation fee is forcing her to go somewhere else which offers it free (with the customary lock-in period obviously). But if Afrihost offered something similar I am sure they would get more sign-ups.
The free installation is a winner (with a claw back period).

Lets see if Afrihost can be agile again. :p

I agree with you. I was considering Afrihost and Axxess because of the great experience I had with them over the years, but the installation fee holds me back. Cell C and Webafrica for example, offers free installation and connection - Ok you have to keep the connection with them for 24 months, which I am happy to do. I just do not have the finances upfront for installation fees. It would be awesome if Afrihost can offer free installation and connection on Vumatel.

Afrihost should pushout an ISP "sticker" or two with new shipments which customers can stick on their cpe :p everytime u move from one rental to another leaving a fibre cpe i can't help but think its a missed opportunity especially given that the next renter needs only call up an ISP.

so is Axxess part of afrihost or not? would really liked to see that piece of info.
