Elements of mainstream culture could be weird. However there is nothing weird about these two videos. Unless you consider Western pop music weird too and a store chain catering to customers to be "weird". The only difference is that the girl in the video is Japanese and the singing is done in Japanese in the second one. What is weird about these videos which is particular here? I find nothing weird about them at all.

Note also that this was in the context of this thread as well. A pop singer can't sing in a cute way or can't be styled to be cute? Music can't be cute?
