Just got a call from a friend of mine.

She was visiting her parents in JHB, the whole family together. In walks two masked men with guns, past their cctv system/alarms/electrified fences, they proceed to beat everyone up, placing them two-two in seperate rooms, including the domestic and garden worker. they demand guns and cash, which the family insists they do not have, after which they are all severely beaten, and her mother, a 60 something lady, is repeatedly raped and sodomised and beaten so badly that she now needs reconstructive surgery. The police have not even taken any statements.

I am most sincerely sorry for the trauma that you and your friend and her family experienced.

Dude, please don't make this a race issue. It is a criminal issue through and through. Just beating up people indiscriminately based on skin colour is not going to solve problems in South Africa.

Fantastic idea! Take it out on the people who *didn't* do it! Because all blacks are kaffirs and only survive by stealing the white man's wealth! Blacks are never victims of crime, the papers lie!

Start doing something positive, rather than making racist attacks and promising bloody vengeance against innocents.

Please tell us where it happened and when.
Give the affected community the opportunity to have these animals sorted out.
Your lack of details is understandable, but give us more.

And .. a non participative police force makes them the enemy as well.
We can also deal with them [the police] pretty damn quicky as a community.

Unfortunately, when emotion is involved, all rational thought goes out the window.

I sympathise with riggs and agree that crime is getting out of hand, but beating people up is not going to solve anything - esepcially when they are not the ones at fault.

Possibly, a solution would be to rally for support from members of this forum, and riggs' and everyone else's communities and write letters to the government, demanding that something be done. Demanding stricter punishments for these people (please note, I am not trying to discriminate here) that are making our lives a misery. If enough people speak out, then they have to do something.

Take back your communities, get involved, help us root out the evil tyranny that is taking our neighbourhoods. We can fight this scourge together, but we cannot win the war by employing vigilantism.

Sector Policeing works for my area... 1 morning @ 02:00 a walk around the neighbourhood a week... per person.

This happens hourly from 20:00 - 05:00. During the day we have the armed response guys do drive by's.... Just a thought use it don't use it.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with bwana on this one. The families did not choose to have a member become a criminal, in many cases they don't know about it or won't support it.

An eye for an eye is the only way my friend....revenge is a dish best served COLD. If someone killed someone close to me and I knew where they stayed I would burn their house down to the ground with their whole family inside it!!!!

The difference between me and them is that I wouldnt go into someone's house unprovoked and kill, rape and mame. but if you wrong me I will make you regret it.

@ Bullfrog: there is a lot of hate on this page, but its good hate, if there is such a thing. what is wrong with hating and cursing people who would do such a horrible thing. I have a big heart. The whole thing isnt cold and black, most of it is warm and BRIGHT red....but there is one small spot on it, that is black and cold...its a special place that I keep just for the kind of people who attack innocents( except little children related to murderers..hehehe)
