Hey all,

Just thought I'd start a thread for the upcoming release, 1 day to go. People can post all their random rants in here.

So who's using the release candidate already?

Cant wait any longer, got a netbook friday. Do you think it will be on the IS ftp or anywhere local (early tomorrow morning) for us without international at the moment?

Oh and will it have aero effects such as in windows Vista/7?
Im kind of a noob when it comes to Linux

My concern is no Seacom to kill my left-over bandwidth (4GB) before the end of the month. I was hoping to use it to download Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Lubuntu install cd's :(

Come on Seacom...we need some bandwidth.

Aero effects are lame compared to what you can achieve with Compiz. And yes, it will have aero effects :p

yeah I was hoping to do the same- I have moved over to cybersmart from the 1 may, so still have some left over bandwidth from my previous supplier that im hoping to use up before the end of the month. on a side note- isn't it just international that is down- you could probably download from a local mirror.

I'm pretty sure it'll only be later on tomorrow; there's still much that needs to be done, ESPECIALLY for the LTS.

I've been using it quite happily since alpha3. Loving it to bits. So far it is rock solid for me. :)

Its 5 past midnight and my Ubuntu updates are coming in at 60kB/s...from the local mirror which normally run at 430kB/s
I hope the bandwidth returns before the end of the month :(

EDIT: And on top of it all its LTS release day, so I hope the bandwidth is back before the official release.

Bit of a beginner question here, but will an install of the RC be upgradeable via updates to the final?
