Yep, quite dark here too. Looks like we might get some this time round.

It looks like the south of GP just got some good rain!

IR.JPG

Ottosdal is showing some promising signs, but I suspect the radar's gain is a little bit higher than Irene's due to how the images have differed in the past....

Otherwise, the satellite image looks good! But unfortunately GP is mostly right in the middle of sweet nothing for the time being :cautious:

Would love to know what the hell you use to smart-meter the rainfall!
Use this: MS Weather Station Rain Gauge (pishop.co.za)
Together with a hacked Xiaomi Zigbee door sensor -- basically drilled two holes in it and soldered two wires across the reed switch which is then connected to the reed switch in the rain gauge. The door sensor is in a water proof box mounted against the wall close to the rain gauge.
That is used with a Xiaomi Aqara Zigbee gateway which is connected via Wifi and integrated to Home Assistant.

Every time the tipping bucket in the rain gauge tips, it "opens and closes" the "door" of the door sensor. Then I have automations to automatically increment a counter by x mm (whatever they specified in the data sheet) and thus rain is counted.
