Fierce storm last night. yielded 15mm in Midrand and some hailstones. The wind was the strongest I had ever seen it inland, blew over 7 of my bay trees that were in pots. Thankful that it was over so soon.
Should live in a valley, winds are strong all the time need to look at a wind turbine

Agreed, the coolness factor of a turbine is sub-zero. But it's most efficient when it's pretty high, at least 10m higher than any surrounding obstructions, and because of that it needs a large footprint for the support structure, not suitable even for large gardens.

You do get smaller home Turbines, the biggest issue is my area has massive pine trees :(

The winds preceding these latest storms have been something else.

It'll go from dead calm to sustained madness for 5-10mins - to the point where I'm cringing and expecting tree limbs or house parts to go flying any second.

It depends what you mean by small. Yes, there are some toys (under 3-400W) for sale, from my investigations they are not worth the trouble.

I make extra thinking: Pine trees could be a blessing: Choose 3 pine trees that are close together, tie the tops together, strip some branches and use it as platform for a 10m pipe, mount a Bornay Wind+ on it and profit!

1.5 mm yesterday.
Lots of storms all around us. This surface high over GP is firmly in place.

A tree or 2 in my neighbourhood snapped from the strong wind and some roof sheets of a block of flats not far from me were blown off
