Should be a great tournament this year and I suspect that with the announcement by a certain Mr Woods that he will be playing, tickets sales would've gone through the roof. Despite now being ranked out the top 100, he will be the most watched player.

The SA contingent is not looking strong this year. Schwartzel, Els and Oosthuizen will lead the charge but none of them have been really burning up the courses recently. Still, never count them out.

Check out the official Masters website here

Pairing for rounds 1 and 2 here

If I were a betting man, I would put a wager on Jordan Spieth but at the end of the day, you can't really look past Rory McIlroy.

Play gets underway tonight with the traditional Par 3 contest and then the action starts tomorrow in ernest when the tournament is opened as usual with the first tee off by Messers Palmer, Nicklaus and Player.

From a SA perspective, I am quite keen to see what Brendan Grace goes. I have seen some hype on local TV.

From a betting perspective, I think the ones to watch (besides Rory obviously) is Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson. Both of them are in good form.

It will be interesting to see how Tiger goes. Pundits expect him to make the cut. If he is within 5 shots come Sunday, I would not be surprised to see him winning it.

The Masters is always a good one to watch. Spieth looking good so does Stenson and of course Rory. Its going to be a Tiger show again from a broadcasting point where we are going to have to watch every single shot he plays.

From a SA perspective you never know with Louis and Charl. Branden has not had any success thus far on US soil which is frustrating as he plays so well on the Euro Tour.

How does golf picks work on Superbru?

It's very easy. You pick one player from a list of players in four tiers, so four players overall per day. Or something like that. Hehe must get ready for work. I see you joined though.

Yes just joined. Its hard when you want to support the SA guys when you have to choose in bands but it makes sense else people will just pick all the favourites.

Kevin Streelman won the annual par 3 contest yesterday which doesn't bode well for his Masters chances. No player has ever won the Par 3 contest and then gone on to win the Masters.

There were an incredible 5 hole in ones yesterday (one by the great Jack Nicklaus) which I found amazing.

Can't believe the coverage only starts tonight (on Supersport anyway) at 20:45 when it's already on the go now!

Anyone know of any other sites that are already streaming it?

EDIT: Ok, to be fair coverage from Augusta does only start at 2pm EDT (which is 8pm our time). You're lucky this time, Supersport... :p

Spieth is doing something quite special at the moment. Ernie rolling back the years.

I don't really understand why Tiger is doing so poorly.

With his talent and experience he should still be right up there.

His social life seems to be relatively stable and if he just puts in a little more effort into his practice and conditioning he should come close to his old form.

Spieth captures Masters green jacket

American Jordan Spieth has won the 79th Masters at Augusta National in record breaking fashion.

Spieth, 21, became the second youngest ever winner of the Masters, when he romped to a four-stroke win, finishing with a 18-under total.

England's Justin Rose and crowd favourite Phil Mickelson finished in a tie for second.

World No 1 Rory McIlroy had to be content with fourth spot, while former No 1 Tiger Woods finished with a 1-over par 73 to end tied for 17th.

Louis Oosthuizen was the leading South African finisher in a tie for 19th.

Spieth played unbelievably well, belying his age of just 21. From the minute he teed off on Thursday, he never looked like losing it. Great golf played by all over this tournament. Another successful Masters, it has to be said.

Amazingly consistent Masters performances from Spieth in the last 2 years.

Spieth is a superstar in the making. Hope we have a proper McIlroy/Spieth rivalry for the next couple of years.

An absolute dominant victory, The competition never stood a chance with the way he was playing.

A real superstar in the making and his, developing, rivalry with Rory is just what the sport needs.
