Crooked Koeksisterrrrr, talk about a bad start. If people decide to finish their 3GB limit in 8 hours then it's their business. When we bitch about being throttled to 64k it means we're not getting the promised 64k. Maybe you don't understand English but try using an online translator to translate English to whatever Language you speak or can read. Cheers.

Hey, no offense taken (or implied). Your first post certainly made you out to be a iBurst newbie, and your generalisations reinforced that somewhat.

BTW, I've also been with iBurst since December, so I know what I'm missing now. My Linux downloads still come down though. ;)

I agree, IBurst are not too good at keeping to their promises, you dont need too much upstairs to notice that. Forgive me for having a stab at some of the Heavy downloaders (I have read of 80 gigs or so in a month on this forum). Yes I also have a few problems here and there (mainly with gaming though because of latency). But I can only imagine that IBurst have to pay in some way or another for the bandwidth people are using. The problem most likely comes when you have guys that have figured out how to bypass the throttling and capping and this costs IBurst. So naturally they take a hard stance, (The wrong one in my humble opinion) and dream up another way to prevent this from happening. i.e - cutting some off completely when they reach their cap. (From what I have seen it is pure speculation that they will do this across the board) This way they can preserve their projected profits.

Unfortunately, this then affects the rest of us. And that is what gets to me.

The **** started for me on the 1st of July. I am now on my third sweet spot and quite frankly I am now out of LAN cable to move the UTD anywhere else so if this sweet spot dies, then I am really in trouble! The external antenna makes things WORSE because I can't get it high enough. The stupid cable is too short!

They did something to the antennae on Roodepoort Tower that weekend when the whole network was up to cr@p! Either they "adjusted" them or they changed the configuration or some parameter.

i'm still having luck with iburst. and i call it luck because thats what it is.

iburst has not yet evolved into a broadband solution. in fact iburst has degressed since i first got it.

nice summarry slim, you forgot to mention that some people also stopped getting there BW report emails from wbs this month.

That started at the end of May [2005] and it probably will not be fixed before December [2010] seeing as WBS is the bunch of incompetent fools that they are...:rolleyes:...Thami Mtshali it really is time for you to sell iBurst to a competent ISP - for the good of customers accept an offer from a 2nd tier ISP - before your company goes bankrupt and you have to sell your home & car to avoid reposession etc etc etc...

My iBurst connection has been pretty stable this week and I'm getting my 64k. Nice summary Slimothy. I think a lot of users were affected last Saturday when 5 base stations went down. The $hitty thing is that most (incl. myself) didn't even know since WBS never communicates with it's customers.

This at Crooked .... r Iburst users 5% Adsl 58% according to the what internet service do you use poll. So at 5% how can the Iburst users choke up the bandwidth ?

:( As far as July went - speed issues slow and dissconections when trying to do lenghthy updates
looking at other options

This month has been a disaster so far, lost my temper completely on 2 occasions with ksedpleh (quoting ic) and actually try to avoid using iBurst as soon as problems crop up (which seems to be permanently), unless I really have to do something.
Have so far only used 1.6 GB, so WBS (and the doctor & pharmacy for treating my ulcer) laugh all the way to the bank again :mad:

Well July has been the worst month so far, lets hope it improves in August or it will be the last payment wbs will see from my side. :mad:

Still waiting to see what happens when I hit the cap, but I have taken it easy with downloading so far this month.

I never once got a bandwitdth report via e-mail but I guess that doesn't matter anymore...
Does any of your resellers take up your complaints with WBS? When I had a gripe my reseller refered me back to wbs when I expected them to at least do something on my behalf...Surely the reseller must take some sort of responsibility and act on behalf of the client as they are also making money out of the whole deal.

Not much the reseller can do as he hits the same brick wall we do when we contact wbs. :mad:

As for BW reports, well I've not recieved any this month by email, and to top it the webpage BW has shown 1,74g remaining for 11 days now!!!! :(
