R1,799 smartphone with great features and 5G

South Africans who want to upgrade their smartphone to the latest cellular technology no longer have to empty their wallets to buy a 5G handset.

Several retailers, including Avo by Nedbank and Mr Price, are selling the ZTE Blade A72 5G for between R1,799 and R1,999, making it an attractive offering for customers who do not want to be left behind by the 2G and 3G switch-off.

Friends don’t let friends buy Mediatek

Is there a 5G pocket router out there? At a competitive price and local availability? If not could this be considered for a WIFI hotspot supporting 5G speeds? Will the available throughput get bottlenecked at my active WIFI 4/5 devices? I need to look into how much saturation there is on the 5G towers, maybe there is a use case for this.

Great news! The others will have to respond and consumers will benefit.

I call pricing error. The A72 5G is usually around R3.8K. Sold out on Avo, and can only find the A72 4G version for under R2K.

The 4G version has a crappy Spreadtrum chipset which should be avoided at all costs.
