The most encouraging message from this year’s State of Nation Address (SONA) was the unequivocal affirmation by president Ramaphosa that the private sector drives job creation, says Nedbank.

What Nedbank ignores to mention is that is being said as such under the condition that the private sector is the state's cooperative, hence interventions. It has been nicely sold to us in the SONA, but it is the practice which will govern the message. I have long said that the state wants all private enterprises to become state cooperatives, it has long been the modus in Cuba, not to mention China,
