Table is misleading IMHO designed to disguise the poorer testing rate in Gauteng.

In fact, this statement is so blatantly misleading, it comes across more as propaganda than anything else:

”Counter to claims made about the Western Cape having the highest number of tests done, the NHLS showed that Gauteng has so far conducted the most tests, accounting for approximately a third of the total.”

Comparing absolute numbers between provinces with widely varying populations is meaningless.

The reality, when the figures are calculated per 100 000, which is how they should be properly presented on any honest table:

W. Cape tests per 100 000: 2245
Gauteng tests per 100 000: 1472

W. Cape test rate per 100k is actually 50% higher than Gauteng.

And wtf is this statement:

“During lockdown, this slowed to 15 days – and since easing to lockdown level 3, this has quickened to 12 days.”

I don’t mean to be rude about Businesstech’s editorial quality, but decisions about people’s livelihoods rest on the public perception and interpretation of these figures. Be better.

Yeah except for the fact that WC has 5.43 times the number of people infected.

Even if you take it at a per 100 000 rate WC is still magnitudes higher. You can't spin this.
