The official running thread™

Good luck to everyone doing the Ultra tomorrow. If it's your first, absolutely enjoy it!

Did anyone do the BNAC race this weekend? The weather was great and the race was really well organized.

Im pretty happy with my result on the 10K with the pram (yes thats I bit of a brag:cool:). I did not expect to stay under 7min/KM since the occupant of the pram is getting close to 18KG, but things just worked out well.

Yeah I did the 21km 2:14. Great event, will definitely come back for this one.

Anyone here doing the Colgate 15 or 32 on Sunday? I feel terribly unprepared for the 15. Im sure Ill survive, but Ill ten to one take ages to finish. Im hoping for 1:45 on the 15

We are doing the 15km. I'm ready to smesh, but my lady hasn't been training so a slow pace is expected. Only 88m of ascent, less than half of my normal 15km route.

How did you go? We ran a 1:33. That stadium has fallen into neglect. Ladies forced to use the gents loo because all but 3 doors in the ladies loo are missing. Track has started to disintegrate in places. it’s just fu•king sad.

I finished in 1:40. It was a really lekker run, but I would have liked to see decent bins for the water bags.

The state of the stadium is sad indeed. There was an article in the paper recently that said CoE wants to charge athletes and coaches R160 a day for usage of the facilities..

Ran the Vitality series Checkstar Challenge yesterday. Well organised run. I was hurting so didnt make any effort to run hard so plodded along to the finish. Time to heal.

Did anyone take part in the Wings for Life Red Bill run yesterday? Happened upon the Durban event so just curious.

Did my own run on the promenade after ages, was good to get the legs moving again.

Just sharing some feedback/review of Maxed Running shoes, specifically for trail:

Old ones, clocked up many km's, did 3 Ultra trails in them, they are as comfortable as my slippers, even glued the toe section with epoxy which came off due to absolute abuse from my side (bought on double markdown for R250):

Bought a new pair of Maxed, they seem to have a lot more cushion (which I don't particularly like, I prefer to feel the terrain below my feet), but let's see how it goes (They look like a pair of fake Hoka's :p ). They have "Toe-Protect", let's see if that helps with the toe section getting hammered by the rocks, all for R650, not bad. The weight feels similar to the old blue ones:
