The official Ubiquiti Devices Q&A Thread

Will this make my 500meg Internet connection faster - no
Is there a lot of local network traffic - no
Do I have wifi 7 capable devices - no
Did moving from wifi5 to wifi6 change anything for me - no

Am going to get the black ones....

Gents, my AP AC LR is dying.

Do I bite the expensive bullet and go Wifi 7, or stick with something more...modest. The AP AC LR is still fine for my use, except for the constant reboots that I cannot seem to figure out. Not even my syslog is picking up anything, and I have tried different firmwares, reloaded my Unifi Controller, tried another POE injector too...no dice.

Depends on your available budget? AC-LR is R750-R900 for a pre-owned one on BoB. If you have the bucks, upgrade!

I was thinking max R1500 or so, if I can get Wifi6/7 then bonus but also not priority.

I just want something that works.

Good price

If I get it it will be #2 of 8 in the journey to converting my network from WiFi 5 to 6 😀

Bummer.

If I see any more I will let you know. I was aso tempted but realised I will need an 'LR' version to match the AP AC LR that I have at the moment.

The LR really does very little and what you might lose in extra range from the stronger antenna you lose in the ability of the client to sent it back.

Rather buy a Lite now and another Lite down the line.

Also if you aren’t running the LR on High with all frequencies now you aren’t even benefitting from it anyways.

I would always go with 2 x AP’s rather than a single one.

I had a Lite before, but saw massive improvement with the LR, especially in the corners of my house where coverage was spotty.

Specifically, my Reolink camera would refuse to connect with the Lite but the LR solved that issue and it has been rock solid:

^^these are the 5x weakest clients by dBm.

If I had some spare cash I'd divvy up the house and install 2x more Lites instead but that would involve me also getting a bigger switch, and then 2x extra AP's - too much hassle for minimal gain in my current use-case.

Else wait for another decent deal on a 6

Agreed the ac-lr would beat the u6+ on 2,4, but only marginally. Where the ac-lr completely killed the ac-lite
