The politics of hiring free engineers to help fix Eskom's breakdown problem

I get so upset when people talk about engineers. Well Eskom paid them a lot of money so I guess they are worth it. But everyone in the know, knows it was the Technical departments that service and maintained every aspect of the PowerStation.

But Eskom was clever to push them all out and kept them out as they could not contract as individuals. Now most of them are in their 70s and up and even if they wanted to I can assure you that a plant is a bad place for any person let alone an elderly individual.

Also Eskom should PAY them because unlike the engineers that got a TON of money... Most of these individuals are not nearly as lucky or financially strong. So they can pay for them.

Even if they could work, it wouldn't work, because no whitey can tell blackey what to do, that's racist.

ANC are sitting up to their neck in rats and mice and they are more worried about the colour of the cat.

Does it catch mice? Then it is a good cat. Flux the rest!

Quick!
Someone bring this colonizer a black cape or something!
That meek posture and the plaid shirt won't do.

"Eskom announced it was developing a digital crowdsourcing tool which would allow people with the required expertise"

Oh god here we go.
Let me guess.... it'll be a new tab on the Digitech abortion site, take 2 years to complete, cost R80Million and will expose the personal info (and a Dr. Dre music video) a month later of all those who apply while not working anyway.

Those statements have ruffled the feathers of Eskom’s biggest trade union, the National Union of Metalworkers (Numsa), who said it was perplexed by the public enterprise minister accepting Solidarity’s olive branch.
Surely you did somehing to help with this crisis as well?

ANC policy is that SOEs must support the developmental state. ANC policy also says the government must be in charge of critical areas of the economy such as energy. Eskom's objective is still primarily to supply energy but it must also support the ANC's vision of a transformed economy and that does yes mean doing business with mostly black businesses and support employment equity. As with most things the ANC do, they do get the priority ass way around.
Looking at the past decade or so, it seems the highlighted part has just caused Eskom to bloat their debt and employ people without a corresponding increase in electricity production!

This, unfortunately, leads to a logical conclusion that supporting transformation leads to bloated costs and a mismanaged SOE. The sooner SA abolishes the racial employment and procurement policies, the sooner SA will evolve into a more productive and INCLUSIVE economy.

I sound like a stuck record at this point, but the ANC doesn't give a flying vark about the energy crisis. They have so many fingers in the Eskom (SOE) pie and conflicts of interest.

We have a real state of national disaster that has done untold damage to the country for over a decade, yet the priority is never to fix the problems. Given the dire energy crisis we are facing, you would think they could allow the politics to be bypassed to ensure the country's energy security.

Nope, the priority as always is to ensure SOEs can continue to be used as a vehicle for their agendas, which basically comes down to self-enrichment at the expense of everyone else.

To be brutally honest this is just the ANC not wanting to be seen to looking to white people for rescue when the **** has already plastered the **** all over the place. Sad shortsightedness.
This is my take on it too, De Ruyter's presence there is already a sore point.

I understand the unhappiness. Decolonization is going swimmingly. Now you want to bring back the colonizer to re-colonize! Mara why?

''De Ruyter’s political bosses demanded that the process be more inclusive and ordered him to create the platform''

That portion alone of the article says a lot
There's that word again.

"Inclusive"
Which, just like "equitable", always means the same thing.

Less white people.

Numsa, ANC, all ****ing useless assholes who want to see South Africa suffer.
Not that they want to see South Africa suffer, they are African, have ****ed up this country but their pathetic African pride is more important than actually sorting out the issues that are destroying the country.
The cANCer really are a pathetic bunch of pompous tonsils. Think they are so fantastic. Fantastic failures

I think for the most part he was employed with the honest intention of finding a capable manager to sort the place out. The constraints within which he must operate are however too onerous, doesn't matter what skin colour he is. Any colour CEO would find it hard to work at a place like that. I believe the guy from Canada or the Netherlands, I forget which, declined the offer due to those conditions the government refused to budge on. He wanted free reign and they refused so he said no.
