They always said BBEEE would be the nail in the coffin for SA
Even if they could work, it wouldn't work, because no whitey can tell blackey what to do, that's racist.I get so upset when people talk about engineers. Well Eskom paid them a lot of money so I guess they are worth it. But everyone in the know, knows it was the Technical departments that service and maintained every aspect of the PowerStation.
But Eskom was clever to push them all out and kept them out as they could not contract as individuals. Now most of them are in their 70s and up and even if they wanted to I can assure you that a plant is a bad place for any person let alone an elderly individual.
Also Eskom should PAY them because unlike the engineers that got a TON of money... Most of these individuals are not nearly as lucky or financially strong. So they can pay for them.
Surely you did somehing to help with this crisis as well? Those statements have ruffled the feathers of Eskom’s biggest trade union, the National Union of Metalworkers (Numsa), who said it was perplexed by the public enterprise minister accepting Solidarity’s olive branch.
Looking at the past decade or so, it seems the highlighted part has just caused Eskom to bloat their debt and employ people without a corresponding increase in electricity production!ANC policy is that SOEs must support the developmental state. ANC policy also says the government must be in charge of critical areas of the economy such as energy. Eskom's objective is still primarily to supply energy but it must also support the ANC's vision of a transformed economy and that does yes mean doing business with mostly black businesses and support employment equity. As with most things the ANC do, they do get the priority ass way around.
This is my take on it too, De Ruyter's presence there is already a sore point. To be brutally honest this is just the ANC not wanting to be seen to looking to white people for rescue when the **** has already plastered the **** all over the place. Sad shortsightedness.
There's that word again.''De Ruyter’s political bosses demanded that the process be more inclusive and ordered him to create the platform''
That portion alone of the article says a lot
What would this accomplish. Can we the people file a class action lawsuit against Eskom?
Not that they want to see South Africa suffer, they are African, have ****ed up this country but their pathetic African pride is more important than actually sorting out the issues that are destroying the country.Numsa, ANC, all ****ing useless assholes who want to see South Africa suffer.
I think for the most part he was employed with the honest intention of finding a capable manager to sort the place out. The constraints within which he must operate are however too onerous, doesn't matter what skin colour he is. Any colour CEO would find it hard to work at a place like that. I believe the guy from Canada or the Netherlands, I forget which, declined the offer due to those conditions the government refused to budge on. He wanted free reign and they refused so he said no.This is my take on it too, De Ruyter's presence there is already a sore point.
