The price of Levis jeans

So I usually wear the 501's - straight cut with a zip up. But lately the zip is a rarity on the 501's so I looked at another shelf, Anyway - tried on a pair of 508's. They're a tapered leg. Nice fit. Thing is though - the 501's cost R650 which is fine, but the 508's cost R1250. Why does the same brand of jeans, made in the same factory, using the same ingredients, only with a different cut - cost double the price?

I'd understand if all Levis fell within a certain price bracket, but that much difference? It feels like a con.

Off topic but I walked into a G-STAR RAW shop recently, tried on a pretty ordinary pair of jeans and was told they cost R2800. I just laughed and walked out.

Was recently in Sandton City and went into reply with a friend of mine who lets say is fairly wealthy, tried on a pair of jeans that were approx 7k.
I also laughed and walked out told them to stop smoking crack

Prefer the fit and cut of Guess jeans these days. And most of them come with zips...

You get what you pay for in the end. Some of those more expensive jeans are either just for the label or their quality is superb. Levi's jeans can last me years, so I have no issue paying over R1k for them.

Also, I much prefer buttons on jeans. Zips make it look like you've got a tiny erection when you go sit down and button jeans usually don't do that.

I like the fit of levi 501's but I won't buy them in a normal shop. Go get them from a factory shop, they are suppose to have defects but I could never figure out what those defects were, they do however cut off the little red levi tag.

You're too self conscious, people don't even pay attention. Not that I can say it's entirely true - I've seen the erection look happen with both zips and buttons.

The more important issue is that buttons are more inconvenient when you need to take a leak, something that you have to do frequently throughout the day...

Hmm yeah I suppose. I'm contemplating taking them back and hunting down a few pairs of zipped 501's instead. The 508 do fit nice tho.

:). Was actually at a Levis factory shop earlier today (cpt - access park). Found some 501's, but they all had this square patch on one of the knees. All of them in the same place. I can only visit so many shops trying things on and that was way past my limit so I walked out and went to a proper Levis store later in the day.

Strange with the zip thing. It's so much more convenient & you'd think their standard jean the 501's would come in both flavors. Now I've got buttons to deal with every time.

Wasn't to the Levis factory shop in Las Vegas, and asked for button fly jeans with a different fit from the 501's . They told me 501's the only ones with buttons.

$70 for 2 pairs of 501's , or $40 for 1 pair at Macy's on presidents day weekend. South Africans get screwed on prices for brands always

If you want cheap Levi's go to the factory shop in Woodmead, R400 instead of the usual R800 at edgars etc and they're exactly the same jeans...

Levi 501's are the only jeans that'll fit me(my body shape is odd as ****) and I get all mine from there, still rocking a pair that's 5 years old.

You let your balls dangle out of your fly at the urinal? :erm:
Never understood people going commando.
Look I just find it more satisfying a leak if i unbutton and lower a bit you know. Take all the restrictions away you know its nature time... Don't understand how guys can just squeeze it through the zip not even unbuttoning the top botton! Thats not relieving yourself, bunch of amateurs...

Unzip, let it fold out to natural size, take a leak, roll it back up and zip up. With buttons you always have to keep it rolled up with one hand while you struggle with the other hand close the buttons.
