I like the fit of levi 501's but I won't buy them in a normal shop. Go get them from a factory shop, they are suppose to have defects but I could never figure out what those defects were, they do however cut off the little red levi tag.

Or I wait till edgars has a 30+% sale on Levis so get them for around 400 Bucks

The problem with these is that it might say size 34, but it will be completely different. You need to fit them. When I go buy a pair of 501'sat any other store, I look for the 38 waist 34 inseam and grab it, because I know it will fit.

I dislike the Guess lowcut bootcut jeans :(

I think there is definitely diminishing returns at play with the price of jeans.

Woolies jeans are better than Mr Price jeans, and Levi's jeans are better than Woolies jeans. The difference will be in the material used and the quality of the fit. And (I believe) R800 Levi's jeans are more comfortable than R600 Levi's jeans.

But beyond that I think it breaks down. I dont think that R7000 jeans are better quality than R800 jeans. Nor do I think R1500 jeans are better quality than R800. Beyond a certain point, I think the only difference is the brand. All made in the same factory and generally using the same materials. All you are paying for is a label.

Nobody should ever buy jeans at Mr Price. Nobody should ever buy clothes there.

You're right, I am indeed a woman and not a women :p.

Who wants to wear the same expensive **** everyday when you can get new cheap stuff all the time??

I hardly buy Jeans so expect them to last, but i won't spend a lot on the clothes either (so hell no will i spend 800+ on a pair of jeans) and the only jeans i find that last and fit me nicely is the Levis 501

The more important issue is that buttons are more inconvenient when you need to take a leak, something that you have to do frequently throughout the day...

+1

When I need to pee the last thing I want to battle with is stupid buttons in my crotch area.

I used to feel the same. But when a pair of clothes lasts half as long as something that costs twice as much...I dunno - I'd rather spend more and have something that lasts well. Not that everything that costs more = better quality.

But yeah - I'd rather have few items of quality clothing than many pairs of not-so-great clothing.

Is the Levi factory shops still in Cape Town? I can remember two of them. I have a friend that goes shopping in Cape Town at the factory stores whenever she goes down. Apparently she can make up the cost of the flight just with the savings. She does shop a lot though.

yep and they have specials which are normally 3 jeans for R800

i bought all my levi jeans from them ...over 20 bought over the years

Depends if its a fashion fad or classic item. I'd pay a lot for a good jacket or boots that can be worn over a few years but not fashion type stuff.

I love Levi jeans, but stopped wearing them when they discontinued 505's.

Where in the merry blazes do you buy an entire outfit for R400? PEP? :p

I'm a guy and I can't imagine getting an entire outfit for R400. At least, if I did get an outfit for R400 it won't be something I would wear in public. A decent buttoned shirt costs about R400 nowadays.

PEP isn't cheap these days, you know... Though I've gotten a few good items from them before...
I'm willing to bet I've got the best style around here and that ain't something money can buy ;)
