I have zero issues with them getting people who use their service to pay therefore. But I do have an issue being forced to subsidise users of of a service, I don't in any way use. No me, or any of my household.

They are launching a streaming service, that still targets the same non paying audience, tho via a streaming service, they can enforce TV lisence compliance simply by requiring it as part of the lig in process. Still do not see many rushing to make use of it tho.

The broader implications is almost missed by most forumites as they, like most humans really, only look out for themselves.

Broadcasting in general impacts everything from communication tech, reporting/news to acting & local musicians (ironically sabc hit them hardest).

This reminds of why Dubai pushed to do rocket launch to Mars this year. Why? Wtf business so they have sending rockets to space? Well it’s got **** all to do with Mars but about the 2ndary industry it generates and the technology & innovation that comes with it.

I’ll say it again, South Africans, particularly the gatvol ones often cut their nose to spite their face instead of focusing on getting rid of pimples.


Problems come with solar power and municipalities.. here ironically it makes more sense not to be grid tied. Weird how that works

Only time I listen to the radio, is if I walk into a business or vist someone and they are playing a radio.

Dedpite there being a radio in my car, it has not had an antenna attached, in 20 years, the speakers need replacing. Have no intention in wasting funds to make it functional.

SABC TV piracy cannot be compared to not paying etoll.

The whole etoll system is a corrupt system from the beginning. And they did not do due diligence before rushing off to embark on this etoll strategy.
