W aftermarket specialist Oettinger has unveiled the most powerful tuned Golf at this year’s Wörthersee event. With 518PS (511hp) from a five-cylinder turbocharged engine, the limited edition Oettinger 500R delivers supercar performance.
Thanks to a power to weight ratio of 2.83 kg per hp and four-wheel drive, it is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of more than 300 km/h (186 mph).
Under the hood sits an extensively upgraded 2.5-liter TFSI five-cylinder turbocharged engine from Audi which features a modified turbocharger and ECU remap.
The air intake was supplied by VWR, with the water-cooling circuit also replaced. As a result of these modifications and many other upgrades, the engine produces 518PS (511hp) at 6,100 rpm and 680Nm (501lb-ft) of torque at 3,600 rpm.
Based on the current VW Golf R, the 500R has been developed during three and a half months. The car features an aggressive body kit that makes it 100mm (3.9in) wider than the production model, wider aluminum front axle and aluminum rear track handlebar.
Stopping power is supplied by six-piston high-performance brake calipers and two-piece, perforated and internally ventilated brake discs with sports brake pads and steel flex brake pipes.
The Oettinger 500R rides on a 3-way adjustable Clubsport suspension with racing valve technology from KW. The car showcased at Wörthersee also features 20-inch ATS Forged Wheels wrapped in Dunlop Sport Maxx 275/25 R20 tires.
The 500R offers an all-leather cabin with black Alcantara on the center seat sections and contrasting orange stitching. Bucket seats with integrated head restraints and harness slots, as well as a three-spoke sports leather steering wheel complete the package.
Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but Oettinger reckons it could start at around €150,000 ($170,390). That’s before the tuner starts offering additional power upgrades of 600, 650 and 750 PS.
